Sunday is fast approaching so I have been mentally making a list of all the items I want to bring on my vacation. Packing your luggage isn't all that hard, you just need the basics; clothes for your stay, toiletries, accessories, purses, jackets, shoes, shoes and more shoes. If you couldn't tell, I am a professional over-packer. I will pack the same amount for a weekend getaway that most people would pack for a month out of the country. Tropical vacations I find a bit easier, seeing as I will be spending the majority of my stay lounging in a bikini. The one aspect of packing I really enjoy is putting together my carry on bag. You need enough goodies to keep you busy for the duration of the flight, and enough snacks to prevent the need to resort to plane food (gross!). Here are some must have items for my plane ride this weekend:

Starbucks Tazo Chai - of course this delightful drink will not actually be in my bag, but it will be a much needed pick me up once I arrive at the airport early Sunday morning.

Dentine Ice Vanilla Chill - nobody wants stale breath after a long flight, and an added bonus, this gum tastes like Christmas

Trashy Magazines - airports may be the only place where I actually purchase magazines, rather than quickly flip through them while standing in the checkout line at the grocery store

iPod - gotta have something to drown out crying babies

Sunglasses - sunglasses are always a nice thing to have on hand for those extra bright days

XXX Vitamin Water - a delicious thirst quencher

Digital Camera - I scored a window seat on the plane so I'm hoping to get some great shots of the island from above

Bathing Suit - I don't care if the rest of my luggage gets lost, a bathing suit is the only necessity for this week

Book: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - I bought this book at the end of August and I still haven't been able to get past page 91

Corn Nuts . Original - undeniably the best snack for plane rides

Flip Flops - who wants to walk off a plane onto a beautiful tropical island in winter boots? Not me.

Tuesday's have to be the toughest day of the week to get through. The happiness you may have felt on Monday after a great weekend has now dwindled, and there are still 3 long days to get through ahead. Whichever way you look at it, you're stuck. So try to find some little things to brighten up your Tuesday. Freshly baked cookies are the lucky winners in my house this week. How can you not feel great when the kitchen is filled with the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies. In addition, I have an amazing trip to St. Maarten to look forward to in a mer 5 days. A week in the tropical sun is exactly what I need to get my mind off school.

The Hallmark Holiday

Valentines Day is all about over the top romantic gestures to show that special someone just how you feel. Personally, I prefer the little things. A simple "Have a great Valentines Day miss" from the cashier at Tim Horton's while I was getting my morning coffee was more than enough to put a smile on my face. My evening will not be spent out on an extravagant dinner date (as my boyfriend and I aren't in the same city), it will be spent baking cookies and watching the Bachelor with my amazing roommates. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Spring Forward

The winter blues are currently taking over my life. Dreary, grey days make dressing up a daunting task. It's like I'm stuck in a slushy 'sweat pants tunnel vision'. In order to climb out of the rut I have fallen into, I'm looking to the future; the crisp, warm days of sunny spring. These are just some of the items I'm looking forward to adding to my closet in the near future.
